Hello and welcome to The Old Summers Home. Today I want to share a quick and easy way of how to make Turkey bread stuffing! Our family has grown to love this recipe as I have perfected it over the last number of years. In all honesty, this is a recipe I never measure ingredients for and just toss together quickly. In fact, most of my favourite recipes are that way so sharing them becomes a bit difficult sometimes hahaha.

Tip for the holidays: Do as much meal prep the days before your big meal to allow for a smoother day in the kitchen and more time to spend with loved ones!

I usually prepare this the day before along with all other meal prep. However, you can easily prepare it while roasting your turkey dinner. I actually love to do as much meal prep the day before, especially for Christmas dinner, that way I’m free to relax a bit more rather than cooking for 5 hours in the kitchen during festivities! And this turkey bread stuffing gets even more delicious absorbing the flavours overnight!

The Ingredients!

I usually try to use a loaf of french bread however regular bread works just as great and I have used that many times too. I usually try to split half whole wheat & half white when using regular bread!

  • a loaf of french bread (see above for alternative)
  • 1 carrot
  • 2 stalks of celery
  • 1 medium onion
  • 6 pieces of garlic
  • 1/2-3/4 cup butter
  • 5 tbsp poultry seasoning
  • 1 tbsp seasoning salt
  • 1 tbsp garlic pepper (optional)
  • 2 tbsp parsley

Chop bread into bite-sized pieces and toss into a large bowl.

Chop celery and onion into small pieces. Add to the bread in the large bowl.

Using a carrot peeler, shred the carrot into the bowl with bread, celery and onion.

Combine bread and butter mixture to create the turkey bread stuffing.

Melt butter in a microwave for 20-30 seconds or until completely melted.

Sprinkle poultry seasoning and seasoning salt into the butter. (Recently I started using garlic pepper too, it is truly amazing stuff!)

Finely chop garlic and add to butter. If the butter is starting to solidify microwave for another 10-20 seconds.

Pour melted butter over bread mixture and stir well.

Shape turkey bread stuffing into log on aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes at 375°F

Use your hands to shape and place on aluminum foil, then mould into a log shape and wrap tightly.

I double the aluminum foil just to be sure that there is no leakage.

Refrigerate until needed, approximately 40 minutes before the rest of the meal is complete.

Place in a serving bowl and serve with turkey dinner!

Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes at 375°F turning once halfway through. Open and place in a serving bowl.

Serve alongside turkey dinner!

Now you know how to make turkey bread stuffing the easy way!

We love to use the leftovers from our turkey bread stuffing for sandwiches too alongside our Grandma’s French Turkey Dressing. Our Turkey Pot Pie would work splendidly with this as a side too!
